007 First Light Runs at 60 FPS on Base PS5 Too – New PS5 Pro Gameplay Looks Impressive

IO Interactive took to social media to share new 007 First Light gameplay footage focused on the PlayStation 5 Pro, giving fans another look at Bond’s adventure while also offering a fresh chance to judge the game’s technical progress. The footage looks polished and visually striking, but one detail may stand out even more than the PS5 Pro branding itself: players on the standard PS5 will not be left behind, with 60 FPS also available on Sony’s base console.

From “007 FPS” to a Much Smoother Showcase

The newly shared scenes revisit Bond’s mission at the airport in Slovakia, a section longtime followers may immediately recognize. Back in September 2025, this sequence became one of the most discussed gameplay moments after heavy action, explosions, and particle effects appeared to push performance noticeably under pressure.

IO Interactive decided to embrace that discussion with some humor on social media. The studio jokingly referenced last year’s criticism that parts of the footage seemed to run at “007 FPS” — a self-aware nod many players appreciated.

And to be fair: the difference is hard to ignore. The newly released footage looks genuinely impressive. Explosions, environmental effects and combat sequences appear substantially smoother, making the Slovakia airport sequence appear significantly smoother and more stable than what players saw months ago.

A day later, IO Interactive followed up with additional PS5 Pro footage from the Webb Industries Gala in London. Combined, both clips now amount to nearly five minutes of gameplay.

The less compressed footage featured in this article comes from YouTuber GameRiot, who stated that he was given exclusive permission to showcase the official new PS5 Pro gameplay in 4K at 60 FPS.

PS5 and Xbox Series X Graphics Modes Confirmed

Alongside the new gameplay showcase, IO Interactive also revisited console graphics options. Importantly, both PlayStation 5 models — the standard PS5 and PS5 Pro — will offer the same graphics presets, allowing players to choose between a 30 FPS Quality Mode and a 60 FPS Performance Mode.

Similar graphics options have also been confirmed for Xbox Series X, although specific frame rate details have not yet been outlined in the same way. The Xbox Series S, meanwhile, appears to be the exception and will not feature selectable graphics presets.

It is understandable that both Sony and IO Interactive want to show how visually impressive 007 First Light can look on current hardware. PS5 Pro footage naturally serves as a showcase for that ambition.

Fans Also Want to See the Weakest Hardware

Still, the growing request from the community feels entirely justified: players also want to see how the game performs on more modest console hardware, not only the strongest.

After all, the core PlayStation audience likely still consists of owners of the standard PS5 model. While the PS5 Pro offers impressive hardware advantages, it likely represents only a fraction of all PS5 owners. For many players, footage captured on base hardware may ultimately feel more relevant than premium showcase versions.

At the same time, many fans are also curious about the lower end of the console spectrum. The Xbox Series S, in particular, remains an interesting question mark. Since it will not offer selectable graphics modes, seeing how 007 First Light performs and looks on Microsoft’s most modest current-generation console would provide a much clearer picture of real-world performance across the entire console lineup.

Performance numbers alone rarely tell the full story. After IO Interactive recently shared extensive PC hardware specifications, another obvious question remains: what resolutions are these console modes actually targeting?

Knowing whether 60 FPS comes with dynamic scaling, reconstructed resolutions, or other visual compromises would help paint a much clearer picture of how 007 First Light will play across each platform.

For now, though, one thing appears safe to say: Bond seems to have moved well beyond “007 FPS”.
