About ExpectingMrBond
ExpectingMrBond is an independent fan project dedicated to 007: First Light – the upcoming James Bond game from IO Interactive. Here you’ll find in-depth analysis, thoughtful speculation, and curated content exploring not only the game itself, but the legacy of 007 in all its cinematic detail, design, and drama.
It’s a space for enthusiasm—but also for honest questions and the occasional critique. Because for me, Bond has always been more than just entertainment.
I grew up watching the films with my father – a tradition that sparked a lifelong fascination with spy stories, iconic locations, and the blend of storytelling, design, and cinematic style.
As a lifelong film enthusiast, the cinema has always been an important place for me. And the release of a new James Bond film has always felt like an event—whether it was GoldenEye in the ’90s, Casino Royale in the 2000s, or No Time to Die in more recent years. Across the decades, Bond has been a constant part of my movie-going life.
That interest has also led me to visit Bond exhibitions like Designing 007 in Rotterdam, Bond in Motion in London, and the Bond Poster Collection at Museum Folkwang in Essen—as well as real filming locations in Venice, Istanbul, London, and Las Vegas.
Even my wedding day included a small touch of 007: I wore the same black silk bow tie by Turnbull & Asser seen in Casino Royale, along with cufflinks inspired by The Spy Who Loved Me. Subtle details, but meaningful to me as a longtime Bond fan.
As a child of the ’80s, I naturally celebrated the glory days of GoldenEye 64. With no truly great Bond games in the years that followed, the Hitman series by IO Interactive became my stealthy fix – smart, stylish, and imaginative. That’s exactly why I’m so excited about 007: First Light and its promise to reimagine Bond’s origins.
I’ve worked in games and media – as part of the BioShock community team, a QA tester, and a reporter/interviewerfor sites like Looki.de and Nova Crystallis. I also founded NightCityLife.de, a fansite dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077during its most exciting development years.
Today, I’m a doctor by profession, but still someone who finds joy in cinematic details—and yes, a great Bond introcan still set the tone for my day.
What’s my favorite Bond actor, you ask?
That’s a tough one. You’d have to ask me in person.
