To celebrate 500,000 wishlists for 007: First Light, IO Interactive has released three brand-new animated wallpapers for fans. Each comes as a 1920×1080 MP4 video file, all based on official game artwork. The animations are subtle and minimalist.
Here’s a quick overview (non-animated previews shown above):
- Wallpaper #1: The familiar key art from the game’s reveal – James Bond in a tense pose, weapon in hand, with the 007 logo subtly animated by a passing glow along its contours.
- Wallpaper #2: A clean, minimalist design showing the 007: First Light logo and the phrase Earn the Number, with a faint animated light traveling along the 007 in the background.
- Wallpaper #3: A cinematic nod to the classic gun barrel sequence, where thin trails of drifting dust and rays of light slowly move across the scene, creating a moody, atmospheric effect.
How to Get Them
These wallpapers are a reward for the community reaching the 500k wishlist milestone on Steam and other platforms. To download them, players must:
- Log into their IOI Account.
- Visit the Rewards section.
- Locate the animated wallpapers under the 500k Wishlist Reward.
How to Set Them Up
Windows
- Use a free app like Lively Wallpaper to set MP4 files as animated backgrounds.
- Alternatively, Wallpaper Engine on Steam offers advanced customisation and performance options.
Mac
- Use software like Plastuer or VideoPaper, which can also apply MP4s as live wallpapers.
A Growing Maze of Rewards
It’s slowly becoming a bit unclear for fans where and how each reward can be obtained — and I’ve been receiving more and more questions about it. Here’s the current overview:
- The “On Duty” outfit skin and the “Gilded Wraith” pistol skin came from simply logging in or registering an IOI Account.
- The “Casino Suit” outfit skin was tied to playing the Hitman Elusive Target event featuring Le Chiffre.
- The “Savana Bloom” outfit skin — likely unlocked for all fans at launch and instantly available in-game — and these animated wallpapers are both part of the 500k wishlist milestone celebration. While the skin should require no further action, the wallpapers can only be claimed after logging into an IOI Account.
For the animated wallpapers specifically, a direct download link on an official blog post or via IOI’s social media channels might have been the more user-friendly approach.
Personally, I find the gun barrel variant the most stylish of the three — it has that classic Bond atmosphere I love. Which one is your favourite?
