007 First Light: Internet Connection Only Needed for Day One Patch

Following the second episode of Beyond the Light, IO Interactive has clarified the internet requirements for 007 First Light. The information was first shared during the live Q&A with the developers and was later also included in the official FAQ for the game.

The topic had been a point of discussion among players, particularly given how modern single-player games sometimes rely on online systems.

Main Campaign Playable Offline

According to the developers, 007 First Light only requires an internet connection once — to download the Day One patch at launch. After that, the full main campaign can be played offline.

The official FAQ states:

“A one-time internet connection is required to download the Day 1 patch. After that, the full main campaign of 007 First Light is playable offline. However, we recommend playing online to experience the full richness of the game, including features that require an internet connection such as leaderboards, challenges, and more.”

Further details about the game’s online features are expected to be shared in the coming weeks as the release approaches.

This marks a more offline-friendly approach compared to Hitman, where several gameplay systems in IO Interactive’s trilogy were historically tied more closely to online functionality.

007 First Light is currently scheduled to launch on May 27.
