Gamescom 2025 Video – 007: First Light Booth Tour & Fan Impressions

Booths and Bond Cars

After sharing our photo coverage of the booths and Bond’s iconic cars, we at Expectingu Mr Bond (EMB) now bring you a video tour focused entirely on IO Interactive’s presence at Gamescom 2025. The tour begins in Hall 4.2, where the polished business booth offered a closed-door atmosphere for partners and press. From there, it moves to the outdoor area of Hall 8, where the public booth invited fans to step into Bond’s world. On display were several familiar vehicles – the Aston Martin DB5, the Land Rover Defender 130, the Triumph TF 250X, and the Aston Martin V8. (See our previous article with photos.)

Around 1,000 business visitors from more than 100 countries stopped by to learn more about 007: First Light and to try the upcoming Hitman: World of Assassination on iOS. To bring these spaces to life, IO Interactive worked with Mivento GmbH on booth construction, while Takeoff Creative sourced the striking exhibition vehicles.

Spotlight on the Fans

The true highlight of this tour are the voices of the community. At the public booth, EMB asked visitors five questions about their Bond memories and expectations for 007: First Light:

  • What is your earliest memory of James Bond?
  • What is the first thing you associate with the name?
  • What do you expect from 007: First Light?
  • Is exploring Bond’s journey to becoming 007 a stronger concept than recreating one of the classic films in game form?
  • Is this next game by the makers of Hitman an instant buy?

Some fans focused on accessibility and depth, with one visitor explaining: “It has to be accessible for everyone who doesn’t really have anything to do with James Bond – but also interesting enough for fans who know the character inside out.”

Others talked about the Bond feeling they hoped for: “Like in the movies – missions, sneaky passages, maybe some riddles – a crime story where you solve tasks and find solutions.”

And several pointed out that it’s refreshing the game isn’t tied to a specific film: “This way, it’s easier for newcomers to get into the story without prior knowledge.”

Interestingly, at the public booth there was little indication that this is the next game from the makers of Hitman. When asked, several visitors reacted with positive surprise – a reminder that IOI’s work on Agent 47 left a strong mark, and that the studio enters Bond’s world with a solid reputation for stealth and cinematic design.

Missing in Action – But Hope Remains

The only thing missing in Cologne was the much-hoped-for gameplay reveal. Fans will have to wait a little longer before seeing Bond in action – but as CMRO Olivier Perbet of IO Interactive wrote on his LinkedIn account:

“Stay tuned for more news; we are cooking something truly special for all our fans.”
