New 007 First Light Shadow Drop? Branko Tomovic Quietly Joins the Cast

While checking the IMDb cast page for 007 First Light, we noticed an interesting new addition: Branko Tomović has quietly joined the listed cast for the upcoming Bond game.

On its own, that would already be noteworthy. But one particular detail immediately stands out.

Unlike many smaller IMDb entries — where roles are often directly identified by character names or simply labeled as “NPC” — Tomović’s role remains completely undisclosed. Interestingly, the same currently applies to actors like Anthony Howell and Bart Edwards, whose characters also appear to be hidden for now — although we already have a rather specific theory about both of them in a separate analysis.

That naturally suggests that IO Interactive is intentionally trying to avoid spoilers surrounding more important characters in the story.

At this stage, there is no official confirmation regarding who Branko Tomović is playing in 007 First Light. Still, the decision to conceal the role entirely feels notable — especially considering the types of characters the actor has portrayed throughout his career.

Who Is Branko Tomovic?

Branko Tomović was born on June 17, 1980 in Münster, Germany, to Serbian parents and grew up between Germany and Serbia. After finishing school, he studied acting at the renowned Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.

He later continued his training with several film acting courses at the International Film School Cologne and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, alongside workshops in Cologne and London. Today, Tomović lives and works primarily in London, while still regularly appearing in German productions.

Over the years, he built an international career spanning television, film, theatre, voice acting, and filmmaking. Many viewers may recognize him from 24: Live Another Day, where he appeared as Belcheck alongside Kiefer Sutherland.

He has also appeared in productions such as The Bourne Ultimatum, Fury, Homeland, Killing Eve, and Whitechapel.

Beyond acting, Tomović has also established himself as a filmmaker. He made his directorial debut with the thriller Red before later writing, directing, and starring in the arthouse horror film Vampir, which premiered at the Sitges Film Festival and received multiple international festival nominations.

His filmography repeatedly leans into thrillers, espionage stories, crime dramas, and psychologically darker material — genres that naturally fit the world of James Bond.

A Career That Fits the Theory

Tomović has frequently appeared in thrillers, espionage stories, and psychologically darker productions throughout his career — something that makes his hidden 007 First Light role especially interesting.

In an interview with Nuit Magazine, Tomović even joked about the kinds of characters he tends to attract:

“Since I am European and with the way I look I will most likely play many Euro-villains! I am already starting to get more of these roles now and I really enjoy it.”

He later referenced Christoph Waltz, Stellan Skarsgård, and Mads Mikkelsen as examples of European actors who successfully embraced memorable villain roles internationally, while also explaining elsewhere that he has always been drawn to the darker side of personalities, as well as complex, unconventional, and eccentric characters shaped by difficult experiences.

That obviously does not confirm that Tomović is playing a villain in 007 First Light. Still, when an actor openly associated with “Euro-villain” roles suddenly joins a Bond game while his character remains hidden, the speculation almost writes itself.

Which Bond Villain Could Branko Tomović Be Playing?

At the moment, IO Interactive still appears to be keeping several character identities under wraps in 007 First Light — and Branko Tomović now seems to fall into that same category.

Given his screen presence and career history, Tomović could naturally fit a wide range of antagonist roles within the Bond universe — from a sophisticated political manipulator to a dangerous field operative or even a memorable high-ranking henchman working for one of the game’s larger villains. As a German Bond fan, it would honestly also be exciting to see another German actor become part of the franchise’s long tradition of memorable antagonists and henchmen — whether closer to the mastermind presence of Auric Goldfinger or the physically imposing enforcer style of Stamper.

One possible candidate could be the blond assassin briefly seen fighting Bond in London footage and potentially again during the Grand Carpathian sequence. Interestingly, however, there is currently no obvious visual resemblance between that character and Tomović himself, making the theory far from certain.

At the same time, roles such as 009 or the masked villain may currently appear somewhat less likely, as one could imagine an actor in such a central position being featured more prominently in the opening title credits.

What already seems increasingly clear, however, is that 007 First Light may indeed deliver the kind of layered and memorable antagonists IO Interactive previously hinted at. Lenny Kravitz’s mysterious character Bawma already pointed in a very different direction stylistically — and Branko Tomović’s addition could further expand that spectrum of dangerous, unconventional personalities surrounding Bond’s first mission.
