IO Interactive has announced a small change to the launch plans for 007 First Light: the Nintendo Switch 2 version will now arrive later than planned.
At the same time, Sony Interactive Entertainment unveiled a limited DualSense controller inspired by Bond’s iconic 007 branding, accompanied by a short cinematic trailer that offers a stylized glimpse at Bond’s mission in Slovakia — and may even hint at the exact model of the Jaguar driven by the rogue Agent 009.
007 First Light Delayed on Nintendo Switch 2
The delay affects only the Nintendo Switch 2 version, which will now arrive later this summer. The previously announced May 27 release date remains unchanged for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Through Xbox Play Anywhere, the game will also be playable on compatible handheld devices such as the Xbox Ally.
With the launch approaching, 007 First Light would typically be expected to reach gold status later this month, the development milestone indicating that the main version of the game is finalized and ready for production.
IO Interactive has not provided a detailed explanation for the postponement. However, the studio noted that it is “looking forward to bringing you the best game experience possible across all platforms,” suggesting the team may be taking additional time to ensure the Switch 2 version reaches the same level of performance and stability as the other releases.
Limited Edition 007 First Light DualSense Controller Announced

The same day also brought some more positive news. Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the DualSense wireless controller – 007 First Light Limited Edition, a collectible controller inspired by Bond’s iconic codename and weapon.
The controller features a golden finish with a radiant gun barrel motif across the touchpad. On the front, the design centers on the iconic 007 logo, while the full title 007 First Light together with the tagline “Earn the number” appears on the back.
By placing the instantly recognizable 007 symbol front and center, the controller leans into Bond’s broader iconography — something likely to appeal not only to players, but also to the wider community of James Bond fans.
The DualSense wireless controller – 007 First Light Limited Edition will be available globally in limited quantities for $84.99 / €84.99 / £74.99 / ¥12,480 (tax included). Pre-orders begin on April 17 at 10:00 AM local time via direct.playstation.com (where available) and participating retailers. The controller launches starting May 27, alongside the PlayStation 5 release of 007 First Light.
Players using the controller can take advantage of two DualSense features designed to enhance immersion.
The adaptive triggers dynamically adjust their resistance depending on in-game actions, allowing the triggers to mimic the tension of pulling a weapon’s trigger or interacting with gadgets.
Meanwhile, haptic feedback replaces traditional vibration with more detailed tactile sensations, helping convey impacts, explosions, and environmental effects through the controller.
Controller Trailer May Reveal 009’s Jaguar

The controller reveal was accompanied by a short cinematic trailer, blending CGI camera shots of the controller with what appears to be a loose interpretation of Bond’s mission in Slovakia from the game.
The sequence briefly shows Bond in several action moments: a car chase through a tunnel, Bond running through a forest, a scene at an airfield where he tries to catch 009’s departing aircraft, and finally Bond in free fall high above the ground.
One moment in particular may catch the attention of James Bond fans. During the tunnel chase, Bond’s vintage Aston Martin DBS can be seen on the left side of the frame, firing shots toward a Jaguar following behind.
The Jaguar might be the car driven by rogue agent 009, and the new angle in the trailer may finally reveal exactly which model it is.
Earlier trailers and the gameplay reveal only showed brief glimpses of the rear and a very blurred front view, making identification difficult. The clearer shot in the controller trailer now strongly suggests that 009’s car is a Jaguar XKR Coupé from the X100 generation — the supercharged performance version of Jaguar’s XK grand tourer produced between 1998 and 2006.
If confirmed, the choice would also carry a fitting Bond franchise reference. In Die Another Day (2002), Zao drives a heavily modified Jaguar XKR convertible from the same X100 generation during the ice palace chase against Bond’s Aston Martin Vanquish — one of the series’ most memorable Aston Martin vs Jaguar showdowns.
Could a Limited 007 First Light Console Bundle Follow?
With the controller now revealed, it also raises the possibility that Sony could introduce a limited console bundle tied to 007 First Light.
While the time until the game’s release is relatively short, it would not be unusual for platform holders to first reveal a themed controller before later announcing a full console bundle. Similar rollouts were seen during the PlayStation 4 era with titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and The Last of Us Part II.
With the PlayStation 5 now entering a comparable late stage of its lifecycle, a themed console edition would not be entirely surprising — even if no such announcement has been made so far.
A themed Xbox Series X has also appeared in connection with 007 First Light, though so far only as part of the Coca-Cola promotional campaign, where it is being offered as a prize rather than a retail product.
