007 First Light: Extended Bawma Trailer Shown at IGN Fan Fest

At IGN Fan Fest, IO Interactive presented an extended version of the Bawma trailer for 007 First Light. The original cut first premiered at The Game Awards last year.

The expanded version does not introduce major new plot points. Instead, it plays more like a complete in-game cutscene, with additional camera angles and longer takes that heighten the tension of the confrontation.

This time, we see more clearly how Barkhad Ali—once described as a loyal follower—is publicly accused of betraying Bawma out of greed. The trailer does not show the alleged act itself, but focuses on the judgment and its brutal outcome: Bawma orders him thrown to the crocodiles.

Bond, meanwhile, is accused of poisoning Aleph’s “Well of Trust”, suggesting he may have entered the city under false pretenses. Also new is the moment in which Bawma publicly sentences Bond and John Greenway to death.

Importantly, IO Interactive had previously stated in official blog posts that Bawma might also act as an ally to Bond—wording that was later removed from those texts. Although Bawma is not the main villain of 007 First Light, the extended trailer clearly reinforces how dangerous and uncompromising he is within Aleph’s hierarchy.

After 007 First Light had been announced as a headline title for IGN Fan Fest, expectations among fans were high. Many hoped for brand-new gameplay or deeper developer insights into features and characters. Instead, the spotlight remained on cinematic material.

In earlier interviews, Martin Emborg noted how challenging it can be to showcase more of the game without revealing too much. Against that backdrop, the extended Bawma trailer—together with the recent Story Trailer—may represent the kind of material the studio currently feels comfortable sharing before the next phase begins, whether that’s press hands-on impressions or a final launch trailer.

Following the presentation, IO Interactive also released new concept art highlighting Bawma’s design.

Bawma is as loved as he is feared in his Kingdom of Aleph, and he's not afraid to use his style to stand out in a crowd.
