007 First Light’s Path Tracing Update Arrives September 15

It is finally in sight: 007 First Light will receive its long-awaited path tracing update on September 15. The release date was announced on Tuesday as gamescom kicked off in Cologne, accompanied by a new trailer showing the visual upgrade in action.

The trailer puts some familiar locations into the spotlight, from the lavish, chandelier-lit halls of the Grand Carpathian, Bond apartment and the Arch nightclub to the forbidden corners of Webb Industries. Path tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction promise more detailed lighting, shadows and reflections, giving these already cinematic locations a new shine.

As we previously reported, 007 First Light already supports DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and DLSS Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. The path tracing update expands on these features with DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction.

The upgrade will only be relevant to a relatively small part of the 007 First Light audience, however. Path tracing requires capable GeForce RTX hardware and will not be available on consoles. Those without a suitable system can alternatively experience the path-traced version through an Ultimate GeForce NOW membership, streaming it from the cloud to supported devices.
